Requirements: Must have completed the 'Dr. Darkwood's Robe' quest. Note: This quest can only be completed once. Uh oh - opening that dresser drawer seems to have gotten the attention of Darkwood's magical defense mechanism - it's sent something big after you! Much like the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, the Temple also uses a token loot system and provides reputation for killing bosses. One of the coolest features of the raid includes the Qiraji mounts, which can only be used inside the raid. You’ll need to use them to travel around and especially for the pull of C’Thun.

Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj (AQ20) is the new 20-man raid in Phase 5 of WoW Classic. It is like ZG, as both are 20-man, outdoors, and reset every 3 days instead of weekly. Both are used as catch up gearing of new players and alts. And like when ZG first came out, AQ20 offers a few items even raid mains will be interested in. This AQ20 loot guide will help you understand what possible upgrades are available.

AQ20 won’t be available until the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj event is completed.

Cenarion Circle Sets

The Cenarion Circle sets are mini-class sets from drops in AQ20. And requiring high reputation levels with Cenarion Circle. Each set has 3 pieces: a ring, a cloak, and a weapon. With all 3 you’ll get a class-specific set bonus. Note you can wear this set without breaking up a Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 2.5 set.

  • Druid – Symbols of Unending Life
    • Set Bonus: Your finishing moves now refund 30 energy on a Miss, Dodge, Block, or Parry.
  • Hunter – Trappings of the Unseen Path
    • Set Bonus: Increases your pet’s damage by 3%.
  • Mage – Trappings of Vaulted Secrets
    • Set Bonus: 15% increase to the total damage absorbed by Mana Shield.
  • Paladin – Battlegear of Eternal Justice
    • Set Bonus: 20% chance to regain 100 mana when you cast a Judgement.
  • Priest – Finery of Infinite Wisdom
    • Set Bonus: Increases the damage of your Shadow Word: Pain spell by 5%.
  • Rogue – Emblems of Veiled Shadows
    • Set Bonus: -10 energy cost for your Slice and Dice ability.
  • Shaman – Gift of the Gathering Storm
    • Set Bonus: Increases the chain target damage multiplier of your Chain Lightning spell by 5%.
  • Warlock – Implements of Unspoken Names
    • Set Bonus: 5% increased damage from your summoned pets’ melee attacks and damage spells.
  • Warrior – Battlegear of Unyielding Strength
    • Set Bonus: -2 rage cost to Intercept.
New Token System

Like the Tier 2.5 sets in AQ40, these set items are not a straight drop from the bosses in AQ20. They use a token system like ZG. There are rep requirements (like ZG). But you also need to turn in specific scarabs and idols, too. The scarabs and idols drop from AQ20 trash. The scarabs also drop in AQ40, but the idols are unique to AQ20.

Cenarion Circle Reputation

Starting in Phase 5 the best way to earn Cenarion Circle rep is to run AQ20. A full clear gets you ~2000 rep. Turning in various quest items from AQ20 also earns rep.

There are more rep grind options in Silithus. But those have a smaller return on more effort.

AQ20 Armor

Lots of set gear also drops in AQ20. They are regular drops from bosses, no messing around with turn in requirements. As in ZG, there are more blues than epics.

There are too many items to list for this AQ20 loot guide. So instead here’s a link to an organized list on Wowhead.

  • Link is organized into tabs, one for each slot
  • More blues than epics, not much of interest to most BWL raiders

AQ20 Weapons

If your guild is like mine and lacking some weapon upgrades AQ20 isn’t going to fill that need. Unless you are still running around with blue weapons. All AQ20 weapons are epic, but around the same ilvl as Molten Core and ZG items.

Physical DPS Weapons
  • Qiraji Sacrificial Dagger – Dagger
  • Sand Polished Hammer – Mace
  • Manslayer of the Qiraji – Two-handed sword
Caster Weapons
  • Stinger of Ayamiss – DPS/healer mace
  • Talon of Furious Concentration – DPS/healer held item
  • Staff of the Ruins – DPS staff
Ranged Weapons
Shield
  • Buru’s Skull Fragment – Tanking shield

Class Skill Books

The thing most everyone will want out of AQ20 is the new class skill books. There are three for each class. They teach a new rank of an existing ability. The books can drop from any boss in AQ20. Each boss has a chance of dropping up to two books. They are not bound, so expect to find them on the auction house, too.

So with AQ on the horizon, I wanted to share my ideas on loot priority, gear setup, and ultimately, who gets what purple pixels put into their toons bags.
The Prophet Skeram
Plate LOL. Nothing interesting here.

The Bug Trio
Priest Prio.
My reasoning is druids and shamans have the Wild Growth Spaulders available to them from MC with higher +healing.
ShamanPrio.
Druids and Priests benefit more from +healing while shamans gain more from mp5. But god damn, this is a sexy ring.
ShamanPrio. (with conditions)
This is a slight upgrade from the Silithus Lord neck. However, this is an upgrade from Jin'do's Evil Eye for Priests and Druids, but we should get the pre-C'thun BIS from the AQ20 Ossirian the Unscarred Head hand-in quest.Rep
Battleguard Sartura
DruidPrio.
+Healing does far more for druids than it does for shamans. Additionally, spirit. =)
NO Prio.
Lok'Amir or Jin'do's Hexxer will most likely be in the hands of the Druids/Shamans, while the exalted Cenarion Circle mace or Fang of Korialstrasz in the Priests hand. Obviously, in order to be considered they have to have a suitable mainhand.
Fankriss the Unyielding
Druid/ShamanPrio.
Priests want to maintain their 3 piece set, and that generally consists of the bracers, robe, shoulder, gloves. Pick 3. Additionally, Priests have the Truefaith Vestments chest item. The upgrade for a Shaman or Druid in getting this item is considerably larger than for a Priest.
Viscidus
NO Prio...but Priest...kinda
This item is used primarily for Loatheb. The reason I put Priest Prio, is only due to the ability Priests have to increase our spell critical by 25% for a spell, and a crit heal will make a larger shield than a non-crit obviously. HOWEVER, if a Druid has the 5/5 Improved Regrowth and has the 50% crit modifier on it, AND if HoT's trigger a shield, then perhaps Druids should be first? Or next? I'm not certain. Also something to consider is that for Loatheb we will be gearing differently, but also Healing Touch gets full 100% power from +heal gear, while most other heals are less. This item needs to be tested.

Spirit. Leather. Lots of +heal. Obvious drood item.
Priest/ShamanPrio.
Druids have the Wasphide Gauntlets which are a linear upgrade from the T2 gloves, also gloves generally are one of the pieces that Druids want to maintain for their 3pt2. These gloves have a ridiculous amount of regen on them. Priests should think twice before jumping on these however, because the 3 piece must be maintained in AQ gear.
NO Prio.
The high +healing, in addition to the regen makes this the linear upgrade for Priests and Druids from their Cauterizing Band/Pure Elementium Band BIS set from BWL +. Also an upgrade for Shamans from Ring of Blackrock.
The Twin Emperors
DruidPrio.
Leather. High +Heal. This is an upgrade from Corehound Belt or Sash of Mercy.
NO Prio. Gear Dependent.

Aq Loot Rep

Here's the thing with this item. Its high +heal. So yay Priests/Druids. However, Priests maintain their 3pt2 by BRACER, then shoulder, chest, glove...pick 2 others. Druids via BRACER, shoulder/leg, GLOVE. And shaman want regen. So this is basically whomever it would be the biggest upgrade for/who wants it.
Ouro
HEALER PRIO!
Get off our pimp hat yo! BiS for all healer classes, and BiS for style as well. Holy shit this thing is good. Its a huge upgrade for any healer. If you have Crystal Adorned Crown or Deviate Growth Cap, you should let those without it get this first however. Even so, its BiS until 8 piece T3.
C'thun
NO Prio.
We all have the same selections ultimately. This is an upgrade for any healer class.
NO Prio.
Same as above. Spirit! ITS A PRIEST ITEM. High +Heal! ITS A DRUID ITEM! MP5! ITS A SHAMAN ITEM! The answer is yes to all 3.
NO Prio.PartsPriest?
Ok so here's the thing. This is literally the BEST IN GAME for Priests. Period. When going 8p Faith (Tier 3), and the different options you have, since you have 9 pieces of T3 to choose from, this is literally the best thing you can have equipped. Given perfect itemization of course, but it is literally ENDGAME perfection. Belt of Faith, Earthshatter Girdle, Dreamwalker Girdle. But back to gear that will be available. Priests are upgrading from either T2 Belt, ZG Belt (Shoulder/Belt Combo), or Firemaw's Clutch or Whipvine Cord. Druids are going from Vek's Belt, Corehound Belt or T2 Belt. Shamans are going from T2 Belt, Whipvine Cord, or Corehound Belt. So, it IS Best in Game for Priests, but it would be an upgrade for everyone involved. So there is that.
NO Prio.
Man, how I'd REALLY like to say Priest. But this is one of the many reasons why guilds who were progressing in Naxx still did AQ40.

It's amazing for all classes. Put this in your hands and you basically have a perfect balance of high +Heal AND the best Regen setup you can get for mp5.
